Does anyone remember when you could go downtown and go to the FW Woolworth store and it was a treat you could check out the jewellery, candy, school supplies and just about anything and then one day it was all gone, replaced with the Woolcos' and the likes of it.
You had to drive miles just to get there and then walk miles again inside the store to find whatever you needed.
Then Voila some genius dreamed up the almighty dollar store..Now you can walk downtown and browse the dollare store if you need help there is alway someone to guide you to the product.
If you even hint at something they don't have I promise you go back in a couple of weeks and they will have it in stock
Well we have one such store right here in Sidney B.C and It is called the Sidney Dollar Store and Ravinder the lady who runs it is a jewell herself...She remembers everyone's name and will go above and beyond to assist you.
I promise if you are in Sidney , stop in.
I promise you will find something you didn't even realize you needed..
The store is located directly across from Safeway and Shoppers and next door to the Best Western Emeral Isle. Tell Ravinder Cheryl sent you.

Well i finally found a place where I can go and get a facial, gel nails and a pedicure all for under a hundred dollars and as you will see from the pictures they are every bit as good as you will get anywhere else, as a matter of fact I have never had that much attention paid to me.

As you will see if you go to my link about my workout, I started a new fitness program at Vibes Fitness in Sidney http://www.cherylyoung.ca/cheryls_fitness_routine.html But i wasn't sure whether I would stick to it so I called my sister Lillian, the fitness guru and asked her where I would go in Victoria to buy some tights etc. etc., well she informed me that there was this awesome place right here in Sidney, right under my nose, steps from our office.
I went in and introduced myself to Anthony and said I need fitness outfits, well he is probably the most patient man I met, even after trying on half the store, he was cool...
They have absolutely everything you could want for sports and action wear. I love the place and if you are looking for me when I am not working or doing my fitness program you will find me hanging out at the HYPERSPORT ADVENTURE and you should know that they also rent bikes short or long term..If you are coming to Sidney don't miss this special store

Located right on the Pier beside the Fish Market, this small bistro type restraunt has outside seating or inside with a million dollar view.
We had breakfast there before the Sidney Days parade and it was delicious.
It is a must see for tourists and you can't leave Sidney without taking in this view.
My cousin had the Crab Cakes with poached eggs and I had the old fashioned Bacon and eggs.
I will definatley go back and next time I will sit outside and breath in the ocean

My Real Estate office Saanich Peninsula Realty is directly behind both these stores, on fourth avenue in Sidney now I ask you what is a girl to do?

I can still remember walking up the street to the FW Woolworth store and standing there checking out all the different kinds of candy, then a kind lady would get out the scooper and start scooping into a paper bag. When she was finished she would put it on the scale and weigh it and some time it came to as much as a nickle.

This is the place I go back to in my mind every time I visit Lolly Gobble Sweet Shop and because I have more than a nickle to spend these days I pick up some of these neat goodies for all my friends.
Taste of Europe'' Bring some home Today
Being of Ukranian background I was sure that I would never encounter anyone who could make "PEROGY' like my Babba but I was wrong.
I won't say Chris' are better but by gosh they are every bit as good.
Since they opened the restraunt here in Sidney, I will not buy my polish dills anywhere else, and I am not kidding when I say that the juice is every bit as delicious.
For me to throw it out would be like throwing out the baby with the bath water
they have polish sausage, potato pancakes, Borsch both beet and white Borsch and load of other European delicasies
My whole family have become customers of this wonderful epicurean wonder.
And don't frorget that if you are downtown on market night "Thursday" Chris is open for business.

MARMALADE TART BOUTIQUE
Designer ladies clother for the discriminating lady
When you talk Customer Service I have a story to tell you about the owner "Geraldine"
A few months back I had a customer who was staying at the Best Western Emerald Isle, in Sidney B.C, she was here to deliver a speech at a conference and she forgot to bring her black jacket....
She asked me where she could purchase one and I recommended Marmalade Tart....when I saw her a couple of hours later I asked her how she made out and she told me this story.
She was telling Geraldine how she had 4 other black jackets at home and the last thing she needed was another black jacket
Geraldine told her to take the jacket and wear it for her presentation and bring it back the next day and she would have it dry cleaned.
Now if that isn't customer service I ask you What is..
Since I heard that story I am only too happy to recommend the shop and I know not only will the customers be shown the very latest that fashion has to offer, they will be pampered.
THE ULTIMATE WATER STORE,

Melinda’s Biscotti
Is a dream come true – literally! Melinda’s is an inspiring story of a woman following her passion and creating the life she envisioned for herself and family.

Melinda started making biscotti in a rented kitchen as a sort of therapy from her stressful career as a nurse working in cardiology.
It was 12 months of experimenting until Melinda perfected the recipe.

Demand for her unique biscotti “made with love and passion” grew with the support of her local community.
Before long Melinda outgrew her custom converted commercial garage/kitchen and her 6 original customers grew to over 100 with the help of her partner Alun’s marketing savvy and promise to “build Melinda’s dream”.

(at this point in the story we all get a wee bit teary eyed. It is so inspiring to see people released from the confines of unhappy work situations and being free to live out their dreams!!)

BEST WESTERN CARLTON (DOWNTOWN) VICTORIA

Hats off to the Best Western Carlton Plaza downtown Victoria for having the insight to hire two such charming front desk attendants like Cheryl and Alicia.
They were cheery as you can see and they went out of their way to accomodate us, including a wonderful room, the beds were not like at home and I am going to rush out and get the same mattress that made me feel like I was sleeping on a cLoud.
Well done guys

You get what you pay for and I agree but the other night we got service that was very true to that motto and our waiter John went out of his way to prove that the Fairmont Empress do indeed treat all their female guests like Cinderella.
See for yourself! I can't wait to go back
There are a lot of people out there who do an exceptional job and they don't always get the recognition they deserve so I am going to bring you everyday people who I feel deserve praise.
These are people I have never met before but they made me feel that I was special and I want to go back and give them more business
