John Romashenko, licensed realtor with Saanich Peninsula Realty Ltd., as Associate Broker, trading services and rental property management. He is the office manager as well as the property manager of this real estate firm since 1993. The office is owned by his wife, Catherine, who is the sole director, and financial controller.
John Romashenko is an active selling realtor in the Victoria Real Estate Board, and has been in the top ten (10%) percent for most of his 27 year real estate career. He was the owner / manager of Century 21 Wedgewood Realty Ltd. from August 1985 through February 2004, with a sales force ranging between 55 to 63 realtors, as well as being as active sales person. Also, for the period September 1988 through April 2001, John and his wife owned and operated Century 21 Islands Realty Ltd. (as fifty (50%) percent shareholders), on Salt Spring Island, with branch offices on Pender Island, Galiano Island and Mayne Island, building the office to thirty (30) licensed realtors.
John Romashenko’s real estate career involved marketing single family residences, including condominiums and town homes. This included marketing single family home sub-divisions, condominium projects and town home projects. John has been a member of the Victoria Real Estate Board “Commercial Division” which took him in the direction of assembling and selling land for rezoning and development. In 1985/86 John sold and assisted the developer to rezone and obtain approval for a 39 unit housing project on the old CHEK TV site, on the Cedar Hill Golf Course. In 1989 John sold and assisted the developer to rezone a 107 unit apartment site on Shelbourne St. at Pearl St. John personally developed a six lot sub-division at Leveret Plc.; and a 12 unit condominium at Caledonia St. John and his wife, Catherine personally developed a 12 unit apartment / condominium on Dowler St.; a 9 lot sub-division at Lochside and Newman Road; and, a 2 lot sub-division on Trudeau Tce. He recently coordinated and marketed a 13 unit commercial / residential development (Gorge hill Place) at 1008 Tillicum Rd.
Between October 1989 and August 1992, John Romashenko owned a development company, Centurion Developments Ltd. which contracted to build a 9 unit town home site at Hillside and Myrtle; built the 12 unit apartment / condominium at Dowler St.; built a home for the family in the Lochside and Newman sub-division, as well as contracted to build 13 custom homes, (8 of which were in Broadmead, 2 in Dean Park, 2 in Royal Oak and 1 in Central Saanich). All these developments in this and the preceding paragraph are in the Greater Victoria area. Since 2004, I have been involved & spearheading a 60 unit town house development that my client, Chereville Developm;ent Group Ltd. has been processing through the District of North Saanich at 9270 Lochside Drive and long the Reay Creek Watershed. This development is currently before the District of North Saanich as a 10 lot sub-division development permit application. John and his wife are also in the process of developing a five (5) unit development (3 residential and 2 commercial units) in the Corporation of the District of Central Saanich, at 7226 Peden Lane, Brentwood Bay, B.C.
John and his wife Catherine, currently own a thirty-six (36) acre farm in North Saanich, (formerly, the “Riptide Farm”) and are actively raising sheep. Their farm provides an five meter easement along the westerly property line, in favour of the District of North Saanich, which provides a horse trail, bike trail, and walker/jogger trail for the general public’s use. They have lived and/or owned property in the District of North Saanich since 1980.
John & Cathy operate Saanich Peninsula Realty Ltd. in Sidney, B.C. with three (3) other realtors, and are property managers for thirty-two (32) home owners.
John is a consistent award winner in the Victoria Real Estate Board, Multiple Listing Service. He is very knowledgeable of the real estate market conditions, in both home sales and rental properties.
